it takes a club to train a dog....

WHAT IS SCHUTZHUND: Schutzhund, or IPO, is a dog sport consisting of three phases: tracking, obedience, and protection. The United Schutzhund clubs of America describes schutzhund as a sport "intended to demonstrate a dog's intelligence and utility. As a working title, schutzhund measures the dog's mental stability, endurance, structural efficiencies, ability to scent, willingness to work, courage, and trainability". The sport offers dogs and their handlers the opportunity to train and compete at the club, regional, national, and international level. It also brings together people from diverse backgrounds around their common love for the dog sport and builds strong friendships and long lasting relationships.

Our members have varying levels of dog training experience and we strive to help each member achieve their goals. We are an ALL breed club and welcome any dog with the abilities for the sport. Our current club dogs include Belgian Malinois, Dutch Shepherds, and German Shepherds. Our members come from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Virginia.

WHAT WE DO: We train in all three phases of IPO- tracking, obedience, and protection. Club training day is Sunday and we generally start at 10am and train as long as needed. We hold two trials annually, a UScA trial in the spring and an AWMA trial in the fall.

1703 Cold Storage Rd., New Bloomfield, PA.
Our training field is located in Central Pennsylvania in New Bloomfield, PA. We are about 1.15 hours southeast of State College and about 40min. west of Harrisburg. We are extremely fortunate that Muddy River K9 Training Academy allows the club to use their field and their indoor training building during inclement weather.

VISITOR POLICY: We welcome visitors but ask that you let us know beforehand. All visitors who bring a dog must provide current proof of rabies and parvovirus vaccinations prior to attending.
